Sustainable Community (March 29th 2010)

Today I had a meeting with my mentor, Asmund Tweto, an architect at ZGF (Zimmer, Gunsul, Frasca). We looked over my first design and decided on changing some things. He also gave me some topics to research such as public transportation, farming and emergency access, what kind of people will be living in these houses, and number of streets.

Today I continued working on my first design for my site. I also researched more in depth some of the sustainable features of a community such as; stormwater management, other organic gardens, and ways to make the design more kid friendly.

Today I began a site layout for my first design. This design has nine residential lots, two parks, a small community shared organic garden, and a community center.

Introduction to Senior Project

For my senior project I am creating a sustainable community that will be located in Boring, OR. I will be designing this community with as many sustainable features as possible including: a park, a shared community center, as well as an organic garden.
